My most recent, from a photo I took in the Alaskan Yu'pik village of Napaskiak, near Bethel.

Here are a couple more of the paintings I've done, and the pictures I used as inspiration.

This one was an exercise in color usage, copying a painting of Westminster Bridge and Big Ben by fauvist master Andre Derain. His original and my take below:

and my attempt...

The photo and painting below are of the small guest house on Guatemala's Lake Atitlan where my sister Margaret and her soon-t0-be husband Jimmy got engaged. This one's going to be her wedding present...shhh!

Below you'll find some of the handiwork of my latest hobby - painting. Under the amazing tutelage of Dana Ellyn, I've taken up this art thing and found it to be pretty wonderful.

This is from a photo I took out the window of my old apartment, in Mount Pleasant, a neighborhood of Washington, DC.

Of all my paintings so far, I'm probably happiest with this one.

Here's another photo/painting pair, from a snap I took out the front window of a very special minivan named "Steve", on Arizona State Route 186, from Chiricahua National Monument to the Town of Wilcox.
